Thierry Usseglio was another grower proud of his 2008s. His decision not to produce the two headlining cuvées and to divert the fruit to the Tradition has unsurprisingly done much to elevate the quality. What else would one expect of 90 year old Grenache? The nose is at once appealing and scented, with fresh raspberry, loganberry and garrigue. True to type, this exudes very fine elegance, but is layered and surprisingly dense in terms of texure. The underlying tannins are silky and sweet, making for a remarkably refined style. Very impressive and great value.
