Bernard’s wines show an unerring consistency of late and show in a very natural unforced manner. The 2008 is deep in the glass, pleasingly fragrant, with aromas of fresh berries. The palate is classic Syrah: pepper, smoke and spice add complexity to pure, gently expressed berry fruit. An attractive style, streamlined, with good density for the vintage. A wine high on early drinking appeal.
