Deep in hue with a purplish rim, the aromas here conjure up notions of summer berry compote, certainly soft-skinned, fully ripe summer fruits. The palate displays good richness, hedgerow characters and subtle spice too. A generous style, but with good poise and definition, there is a slight hint towards the dried fruit characters associated with sur-maturité here. For all its open fruit, there is a grippy sense of structure to this northern Rhône Syrah. Well-judged and the product of classy winemaking.
