2016 Bouzeron Clos de la Fortune Aligoté, Domaine Chanzy

2016 Bouzeron Clos de la Fortune Aligoté, Domaine Chanzy

This 100% Aligoté comes from a single site in the village of Bouzeron, and is arguably the best plot anywhere for growing this sometimes unfairly maligned grape variety. It’s fresh and precise, and blind you’d be mistaken for placing it in St Aubin, or Puligny.

Domaine Chanzy

Saved from bankruptcy in 2012, Domaine Chanzy is an estate with renewed ambition, aiming to sit at the top table in Burgundy. Winemaking is overseen by Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume, winner of the Côte de Beaune’s Young Winemaker of the Year in 2012. Based in Bouzeron on the Côte Chalonnaise, home of the resurgent Burgundian variety Aligoté, and with important holdings throughout the region, they’re an estate to follow.
