2019 Santenay Clos des Hâtes, Hubert Lamy
It is well-worth following Olivier’s reds, particularly in recent vintages. The 2019 might just be the finest yet. Frost, high density planting, and organic farming mean low yields were reached, and this wine has manifest concentration. 70% whole bunch in the tank adds juicy spice, but underneath, this is clearly a wine of powerful and precise dimensions. The vineyard had previously been owned by M. Duvault-Blochet, former owner of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
