The Grivots have at their fingertips lots of small parcels across the village, resulting in a wonderfully complete and complex village wine. In 2019 it is ripe, full-flavoured and bursting with dark hedgerow notes, and structured but silky tannins. A relatively full-bodied wine, it has a well-balanced weight and a long satisfying finish.
The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village was quite closed at first when I tasted it from barrel, opening gradually to show crushed strawberry and morello cherries and touches of pressed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with plump tannins on the entry, mulberry and wild strawberry fruit flavors, and a touch of black olive toward the saline finish. Compact at the moment, it will require 3–4 years in bottle. Very fine.
