Produced from vines planted in 1959, this is a charming, beguiling example of Charmes-Chambertin. The nose is very open, with beautiful lift and clarity. It has quite striking levels of fruit, a wonderful plump texture, and a vivid sense of energy. Not the most structured of Grand Crus, but given the concentration of fruit it will be very attractive in its youth and should age nicely.
