2011 Chambolle-Musigny, Michel Gros

In common with the domaine’s village wines, this cuvée spends a year in oak barrels, one third of which are new, lending notes of chocolate and exotic spice to the back cherry laden palate. With more grip and structure than its counterparts, the low yields characteristic of the vintage shine through in the impressive level of concentration.

2011 Chambolle-Musigny, Michel Gros
Domaine Michel Gros

Best known for his monopole Clos des Réas, a vineyard that produces a wine of supreme elegance, this remarkable plot has been in the family since 1860. Michel Gros has been at the head of the family domaine that now bears his name since 1975. A rather more recent addition was his tiny parcel of Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot, bought by Michel’s father for his son’s twelfth birthday, although he’s adamant he would have preferred a bike!
