2005 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Georges Mugneret-Gibourg
The estate uses 70% new oak in its Grand Cru cuvées but, as
throughout the flight of Mugneret wines, the flavours of spicy
oak are controlled and play no more than a supporting role.
Red fruits on both nose and palate are fused with cinnamon
and minerality. Hints of exotic fruit develop at the finish. Here
again the texture is quite beautiful with vibrancy in harmony
with an effortless laciness. Complex but simultaneously
elegant. Stunning!
