2004 Richebourg Grand Cru, Jean Grivot

2004 Richebourg Grand Cru, Jean Grivot

We tasted a blend of two different barrels for this cuvée. The sample from a 3-year-old barrel was hard to assess. However, the addition of wine from a new barrel immediately changed that and one could get a far better idea of the finished wine. Powerful dark berry fruit with smoke and spice notes. There is a creamy character to the fruit with great depth and velvet aspect. An alluring and enticing wine. As one would expect there are big tannins here and taut mineral acidity, the finish is exceptional.
