2010 Château Le Gay, Pomerol
The best Pomerols this year were characterised by a tightly-wound core of fine tannin and acidity, but opulently wrapped in an appetising mantle of rich, perfectly ripe fruit. Carefully handled, this produced exceptional results and Le Gay sits firmly in the front row for quality. With a production of less than 1,500 cases, Le Gay is always rare, and with the reduced production in 2010 even more so. Made from 90% Merlot and just 10% Cabernet Franc the structure achieved is extraordinary – this is real gem. As usual our allocation is tiny, unfortunately.
