Château Beau-Site

Beau-Site, whose name means beautiful site, has an enviable, elevated position overlooking the Gironde Estuary. Its stony, gravel soils are similar to those of nearby Calon-Ségur and Beau-Site’s château overlooks Calon’s vineyards. At the end of the 19th century the estate, which is currently 35 hectares, was well-regarded and possibly much larger. Its owners at the time of the 1855 classifications failed to enter it, but today the wine is made with the same care and skill as a Grand Cru Classé. Its current owner is Borie-Manoux, headed by Philippe Castéja, who also owns Château Batailley and Trotte Vieille among others. The vines are predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with smaller parcels of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot and the wines are aged in one of the oldest underground cellars in the Médoc.
