Brooding in the glass, yet fragrant. On the palate, here is nothing "petit" about this second wine of Cheval-Blanc, which has a bold structure with considerable tannic intensity, as well as a core of rich, dark berry fruit. There is considerable alcohol here, from the very ripe Merlot that makes up 75% of the blend, but it is well-masked by a pleasing freshness that comes through on the finish.
