2009 Vieux Château Certan, Pomerol

2009 Vieux Château Certan, Pomerol

Alexandre Thienpoint compared this to the brilliant 1998 in composition, but thinks it is the best wine made here since the 1950. There was a real buzz around Bordeaux about this wine and it didn't disappoint. Pure, perfumed and fresh on the nose, with notes that are almost savoury and leafy. The palate shows lush and deep-natured, with an effortless nature and ripe, round tannins. The succulence of this glossy, generous wine is balanced by an attractive mineral vein. Full of contradiction as all the best wines are, at once powerful, yet delicate. One of the wines of the vintage.

Robert Parker: 96-99 points (Wine Advocate 188)
