2006 Château Léoville-Barton, Cru Classé St-Julien

2006 Château Léoville-Barton, Cru Classé St-Julien

Very deep, near opaque in the glass, the aromas here suggest ripe berry fruit, with sweet blackcurrant and plum as well as a touch of cedar. The palate is tight and full with substantial fruit and a layered impression. A more structured style than many wines in this vintage, there is however a firm core of ripe fruit. The quality of the finely grained tannins impresses too as, despite the taut, tannic frame, there is no sign of dryness. Fresh on the palate, this is a broad, intense and lingering Léoville.
