2005 Château Bourgneuf-Vayron, Pomerol
Although very few Pomerol estates have released prices to date with which we can compare, we anticipate that Bourgneuf-Vayron will be one of the best value buys of the appellation in 2005. Ripe, sweet fruit on the nose is broadened by a dash of spice and a whisper of oak. Impressive vitality in evidence and delicious freshness too. Lithe and elegant with a velvety texture supported by ripe tannins. Some older vintages of Bourgneuf display a rustic edginess to them but not the 2005, which has gorgeous mouth feel and is full of charm.
