Much has been made of the success of Cabernet Franc in this vintage - and Trotte-Vieille possesses a parcel of pre-phylloxera Cabernet Franc that is incorporated into the Grand Vin. Scented dark cherry and sweet, soft-skinned berry come to the fore. The palate shows a swirling opulence, rich and ripe with terrific vibrance. The tannins are very fine with a silky touch. Very impressive.
