Comprising approximately 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc, the 2003 Las Cases lives up to its reputation as an intense, structured St. Julien. Dense and bold with ripe black-cherry fruit allied to subtle oak and a discreet mineral vein. Surely one of the longer-lived 2003s from within this commune, demanding of considerable patience: Approachable from 2015 onwards. Another colossal effort from Jean-Hubert Delon, continuing Las Cases run of form and heralding its return to the en-primeur market.
