Weingut Leitz
Johannes Leitz is perhaps best known for his tiny 1.2 hectare monopole Rüdesheimer Rosengarten GG (Grosses Gewächs, i.e.Grand Cru) in the heart of the Rheingau. He’s based in Rüdesheim, a picturesque town on the bank of the Rhine river, and Rosengarten is its oldest vineyard, planted since the ninth century. Leitz has grown the concern from 2 hectares to over forty since taking over from his father in 1985, bringing international renown for the winery along the way, deservedly so.
