Chilean wine history goes back to the 16th century, but it is rather more recently that the country has emerged as a major wine producer. Most interesting from a fine wine perspective are Bordeaux blends, including Rothschild and Concha y Toro’s collaborative Almaviva and Chadwick’s Seña: wines with impressive abilities to age made from Chile’s ungrafted rootstocks - the country having never suffered from the Phylloxera louse that devastated much of the rest of the wine world.
