Last month I mentioned that we are in recruitment mode – looking for exceptional people to come and look after lots of new customers. In case you’d like some more detail, and that’s why you haven’t written to me, then hopefully this will help!

Our customers must be looked after with care and attention, the roles we have on offer are focused upon establishing long-term relationships with existing customers most of whom are starting on their own wine journey.

In order to meet our strategic development plans, Lay and Wheeler are looking to appoint a highly motivated individual as an Account Executive who will drive growth in our Cellar Circle. By opting to start a Cellar Circle with Lay and Wheeler, our expert team help customers build their very own personalised wine cellar and help them every step of the way in choosing wines they will love. This is pretty personal stuff…..your laying down wines for their future enjoyment and painting a picture of how great that occasion will be once the cork is pulled.

Who We Need?

Are you someone who thrives on sharing your passion for fine wine? We are seeking a dedicated, highly motivated individual who is ‘hungry’ to sell our broad range of wines from around the world to new and existing clients, dedicating time in providing a unique and personalised service. With our expert buying team focused on sourcing only the very best products, this should be an easy task. We need a team player, who works well under their own initiative and someone who is forward thinking, knowing what they want to achieve.

The position requires an individual with exceptional organisational and communication skills, who will build relationships with new and existing clients. These existing relationships date back decades, so we only want the very best people that will continue providing exceptional service and striving to go ‘above and beyond’. As the Account Executive you will be expected to develop your own Cellar Circle clients as well as providing some administrative support to the rest of the Cellar Circle team.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to kick-start a career in the wine industry. As part of the wider responsibilities you will be expected you to complete outbound calls to clients on which you will be targeted, attending tastings out of office hours and the possibility of overseas travel to exciting wine regions.

The Non Negotiables?

Strong IT skills with MS Office, including Excel. The ability to write wine tasting notes and blog posts for the website.
The successful applicant will be based at our recently modernised offices located between Colchester and Ipswich which includes a state of the art wine tasting room.
This is a full time role – 40 hours per week, with days/timings in line with customer’s requirements which will include some Saturdays and evenings.

The Negotiables?

A WSET qualification, previous experience in the wine trade, ability to speak a foreign language – ideally French. Knowledge and ability to use most forms of social media.
