Celebrated Grape Varieties from Around The World
There are a vast array of wines made around the world but there are a relatively finite number of grapes used to produce them. Whilst each country has its individual, indigenous strains, there are also a number of varieties which are grown universally but which, depending on region, wine producer or climate can create a multitude of different styles.
With so much choice available, we felt it would be helpful to list the most commonly found grape varieties and their characteristics.
By listing the individual features of the grapes including taste, structure, sugar levels and ripeness and how these are influenced by the differing wine regions, we hope the various components and flavours which can produced in a wine will become clear.
