"Once again the Mistral and warm, late Indian summer has blessed us with a great vintage" - Marc Perrin, Beaucastel
Starting at just £11.50 a bottle in bond, the new releases of Bins 28, 150, 407 and 389 offer real value for money and, show immense potential for ageing - if you can resist.
With many lines of rare or old fine wines - and all available by the bottle.
Recent tastings have proved that it is, without a shadow of a doubt, a spectacular vintage and set to be seen as one of the great Port vintages of all time, creating wines of intensity, power and quite surprising poise.
Very lifted, fragrant Cabernet fruit, with wild violets and crushed hedgerow berries. Concentrated in the vineyard rather than the winery, with very fine tannins and crunchy acidity - it has an almost Burgundian feel. Very graceful, complex and long, this proves that there is still value to be found in Bordeaux.

Fragrant on the nose, with notes of lime flower, lemongrass and citrus. The palate is crisp and zesty;

Wine Shop and Fine Wine Merchant > Wine Knowledge > Grape Varieties
There are a vast array of wines made around the world but there are a relatively finite number of grapes used to produce them. Whilst each country has its individual, indigenous strains, there are also a number of varieties which are grown universally but which, depending on region, wine producer or climate can create a multitude of different styles.
With so much choice available, we felt it would be helpful to list the most commonly found grape varieties and their characteristics.
By listing the individual features of the grapes including taste, structure, sugar levels and ripeness and how these are influenced by the differing wine regions, we hope the various components and flavours which can produced in a wine will become clear.
Should you have any questions about the information contained in these pages please contact our wine consultants or, to try different examples please visit our on-line shop and search by grape variety.
