2005 La Fleur Peyrabon, Cru Bourgeois, Pauillac

2001 Château Langoa-Barton, Cru Classé St-Julien

Drinking Guide: Leave 2011/2018

The sister wine of Peyrabon, made from estate vines lying within the commune of Pauillac. This a well-judged example made from near equal proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Pauillac style at a very reasonable price.

Drinking Guide: Improving 2008/2020

Real charm and good value for money; this delicious example has a classic nose of cigar box and blackcurrants, ripe, elegant fruit on the palate, silky and mineral laced and a lingering finish. Highly recommended.

2004 Château d'Arche, Cru Classé Sauternes

2005 Château Coutet, Cru Classé Barsac

Drinking Guide: 2009/2016

Aromas of fresh tropical fruit with touches of peach and nectarine. Not as weighty as some, but shows a marked freshness that provides vigour to the palate. As a 2nd growth this displays impressive elegance and refinement and no lack of substance. The finish shows good persistence of honeyed, fresh fruit.

Drinking Guide: Leave 2011/2024

One of the stars. Floral, fragrant and perfumed with hints of honey and spices melding with beautifully pure tropical fruit nuances. One looks for finesse and sophistication in Barsac and Coutet '05 displays these qualities to the letter.  Absolutely lovely and not to be missed.

2004 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Aux Champs Perdrix, Alain Michelot

2005 Pommard 1er Cru Les Epenots, Aleth Girardin

Drinking Guide: Leave 2012/2018

There is a savoury element to the aromas together with vivid, deep red fruit notes. The palate shows an impressive depth with an earthy, meaty accent. The structure is assertive, this is a rich, broad-shouldered example but the elegant nature of the tannins and purity of the berry fruit do much to mask its muscle.

Drinking Guide: Leave 2012/2022

An assemblage of Grands and Petits Epénots make this deep, muscular but well-proportioned pommard. With an average vine age in excess of 60 years it is beautifully textured with concentrated, spiced black fruit flavours. This wine packs a punch but the component parts are in complete harmony.

2006 Meursault Le Limozin, Michel Bouzereau

2006 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Patrick Javillier

Drinking Guide: Leave 2009/2014

Limozin lies just below the vineyard of Genevrières and next to Charmes. The nose is rich with an appealing preserved lemon peel note. The palate displays a full body, with ripe citrus characters and a zesty crisp freshness, and a long finish.

Drinking Guide: Leave 2009/2017

On the nose, one can sense the richness and depth here. On the palate, there are concentrated ripe-apple and citrus fruit characters and a touch of toasty oak, as well as a zesty acidity which comes through on the long and elegantly mineral finish.

2004 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc, Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe

2005 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine Daniel Stehelin

Drinking Guide: Improving to 2012

Another testament to the nature of 2004 with a brilliant tension between freshness of flavour and mouthfeel. The wine is discreet, hinting at honey, while capturing notes of a nutty and floral nature. The texture is sensational, silky smooth and delicate. Beautifully woven acidity adds to a complex and compelling finish.

Drinking Guide: Leave 2012/2018

Solid, dense and near opaque in the glass with aromatics of striking dark fruits, with a distinct, fragant blueberry note to the fore as well as notes of spice. Assertive on the palate, it is both layered and intense with flavours of spicy, dark fruit compote. A rich style that shows a sense of balance and good potential for ageing.

2005 Pinot Gris, Calcarius, Rosenberg, Domaine Barmes-Buecher, Alsace

2006 Vin de Pays de l'Hérault, Mas de Daumas Gassac

Drinking Guide: Improving 2008/2015

This off-dry Pinot Gris is such exuberant style with aromas of fully ripe, scented yellow plum and greengage leading to a palate that is both expansive, yet poised. Layered and viscous with ample, rounded fruit, there is a glorious honeyed density here but crucially a fine, mineral acidity that builds a lingering finish that is appreciably drier than the analytical residual sweetness would suggest. Very fine.

Drinking Guide: Leave 2010/2020

Profoundly dark in the glass, this is initially brooding and closed on the nose, but gradually opens up to reveal velvety dark berry fruit and violet aromas. On the palate, there are plentiful fine but dense tannins providing the framework for dark Morello cherry and blackberry fruit, and more subtle smoky nuances. Above all else, the wine’s sense of depth makes it truly monumental.

2004 Mas Tortó, Vinyes Velles, DO Montsant, Celler de Capçanes

2006 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese, Goldkapsel, Joh. Jos. Prüm, Mosel

Drinking Guide: Improving 2007/2012

An outstanding wine from 70 year old Garnacha vines blended with small proportions of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 12 months in French oak. Intense, presenting the sweetness of dark fruits on a taut palate of graphite minerality. Very long with a fine, focused structure.

Drinking Guide: Improving 2014/2025

The mineral and exotic fruit perfume is nothing less than fabulous here and the mouthfeel and texture simply glorious.
Again, the hint of green leaves and mineral notes add a fascinating and compelling facet to peaches, apricot and nectarine. Clear, vibrant and incredibly broad.

2004 Birba, La Gerla, Tuscany

2003 Quinta da Colmaca

Drinking Guide: Improving 2008/2014

Medium deep cherry-red in colour with intense black cherry fruit and hints of olive. Lovely richness and a dry attack of ripe fruit with a savoury edge. Flowing texture and benchmark Sangiovese acidity. This wine displays wonderful fruit intensity and has a fabulous fine-grained tannin structure. In style, very much like classic brunello, but with a lightness of touch on the mid palate that makes it more immediately approachable.

Drinking Guide: Improving 2007/2012

Offers the prospect of a delightful glass of port, perfumed, chocolatey and ripe. The wine is delightfully fresh and the tannins ripe and supple, yet with an underlying firmness to ensure ability to age in bottle.

2004 Ribbon Vale Vineyard Cabernet/ Merlot, Wilyabrup, Moss Wood, Margaret River

Drinking Guide: Improving 2009/2014

This reveals a classic Pinot Noir nose with bright red and black berry fruit and minerals to the fore. The palate delivers a wealth of strawberry and cherry-like flavours and smoky oak that is supported by a solid structure and firm tannins.

Drinking Guide: Improving 2007/2015

Superb deep, elegant red from a top cellar. The ocean-tempered climate provides cool temperatures which create the archetypal Margaret River style. Develops deliciously fresh lift and vibrancy in the glass.
