What is a bonded warehouse?

A warehouse which enables goods to be stored free from UK duty and VAT, until they are ready for onward delivery. This method of storage is known as in bond.

What are the benefits of storing in bond?

Customers planning on selling their wines are advised to buy in bond wherever possible. Influential foreign wine markets are not liable to pay UK duty and VAT, making wines sold from the UK very desirable. For the majority of customers who are planning to drink their wines, storing in bond is a method of spreading the cost of purchase.

Customers' Reserves at Vinothèque

Vinothèque supplies both the wine trade and private customers with storage space. The ground floor is dedicated to merchants moving stock and deliveries. The upper floors house customer’s private wine reserves which, except for the addition of new cases, remains undisturbed. Cases are clearly labelled with an individual lot number, specific to its owner, and the well organised computer system makes each case instantly locatable.

Cellarage Conditions

The warehouse itself could have been designed as a purpose-built cellar; meter thick walls provide reliable insulation and a constant, cool temperature, which is monitored closely. The upper floors allow for wines to be laid down securely and undisturbed for many years.
