2000 Gould Campbell

A true classic blended from two outstanding vineyards in the Rio Torto valley, Quinta do Pedrogão and Quinta do Monte Bravo. A lovely example with subtle aromas of red and black fruits. Fresh, racy and direct in the palate with hints of cedar and finely-tuned tannins on the finish. This has tremendous ageing potential.

Despite a reputation for a structured, drier style of vintage port, Dow's 2000 has proved remarkably harmonious in recent tastings, an indication of the broad-based appeal of the Millenium vintage. Fruit, acidity and tannins are in complete balance.

2003 Croft

It is hard to recall a young vintage of Croft that has impressed so greatly. A much bolder style than the norm, yet despite its evident weight and layered intensity, this is as refined and elegant as any 2003 I have tasted. A sweeter accent than some examples perhaps, this offers a layered intense palate of ripe blackberry and almost cassis-like characters, yet there is a fine sense of freshness than ensures great balance. A welcome return to form for Croft and a wine that will live long in the bottle. Very impressive.

2000 Warre's

Ever since I tasted Warre at the declaration of the superb 1985 this house has caught my eye and the 2000 lives up to all my expectations. The main component of Warre comes from Quinta da Cavadinha north of Bomfim on the river Pinhão, which in 2000 produced the lowest yields in living memory of the Symingtons. The resulting small grapes have produced a deeply opaque wine with a rich confit perfume. Beautifully rounded with a fresh vibrant palate, and fine structured tannins which give a truly classic style of port.

1994 Croft

Dark ruby in the glass, this has an expressive nose of loganberry and morello cherry. On the palate, this is expansive and full bodied, with pure dark berry fruit characters and vein of acidity that makes this wine one of the best of the vintage.

1997 Graham's has massive colour and an astonishingly rich, dense, floral and stone fruit perfume. Beautifully textured and building to a magnificent finale.

Instantly redolent of rich, opulent, ripe dark berry fruit, with a touch of spice on the nose. In the glass, this is full bodied, with expressive and exuberent cassis and morello cherry fruit. The tannins are silky and fine and there is an elegant touch of freshness on the very long finish.
