A beautifully dense, ripe nose with aromas of bitter chocolate, black forest fruits, plums and damsons and an ironlike mineral note. Wonderful sweet ripe fresh red and black fruit on the attack with a silky flowing texture. There’s a dense ripe core of fruit, yet with a lightness of touch. This is elegantly weighted across the mid-palate and into the finish.

Currently on offer: Classic Bordeaux for drinking now

This eight-hectare property is planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc and the assemblage this year reflects this. A mid-weight Pomerol, this reveals delightful, fresh, vivacious fruit on the nose and palate. The texture is smooth and silky in a pure, fruit-driven style. Succulent and pretty Pomerol.

2000 Clos Sainte Anne, Pomerol

The second wine of Château Moulinet only adds to its reputation in this fine vintage. Vibrant purple appearance, the nose offers nuances of herb-tinged berry fruit. Soft, plush and open, the palate impresses with its layered intensity. A cracking pomerol that will not disappoint.

2006 Château Moulinet, Pomerol

2006 Château Moulinet, Pomerol

Pomerol was very successful in 2006, producing wines of real minerality. Denis Durantou of L’Eglise-Clinet has created a polished and sophisticated wine, with perfumed, black cherry fruit on the nose and a touch of new oak. Firm tannins and depth of fruit on the palate suggest a fine future. Superb value for money.

2006 Château Beauregard, Pomerol

2006 Château Beauregard, Pomerol

Deep cassis appearance. The nose is reminiscent of ripe Victoria plums and black cherries. Voluptuous richness and concentration on the palate overlays a firm, structured core but there is nothing here to suggest over extraction. There is brambly fruit in evidence and an exquisite texture with punchy, vibrant, cool flavours that flow from the beginning to an impressive finish. Maître de Chai Vincent Priou has produced a stunning Beauregard that should be one of the ‘best buy’ Pomerols of the vintage.

2004 Château Beauregard, Pomerol

2004 Château Beauregard, Pomerol

Currently on offer: Classic Bordeaux for drinking now

Classic pomerol with creamy-coated, red plum fruits and subtle floral notes. The palate shows a pleasing texture – smooth and remarkably elegant with a wealth of generous, glossy fruit. Stone fruit flavours are abundant and well expressed and there is lots of charm evident in this flowing pomerol. At our tasting this stood out for its sheer balance. Whilst many counterparts are dwelling on extraction, Vincent Priou approaches this subject with distinct caution. A very fine pomerol has resulted with 80% of Merlot dominating the blend.
