2000 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan

2000 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan

Currently on offer: Classic Bordeaux for drinking now

Mid-golden appearance with some greenish tints, the nose reveals elements of ripe peach, citrus and sweet vanillin from new oak. The palate shows good breadth with some restraint, Semillon is clearly dominant here. Some viscosity in terms of mouth feel with a well-balanced acidity, this will drink well after a couple of years' patient cellarage.

2008 Les Plantiers du Haut-Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan

2008 Les Plantiers du Haut-Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan

Wine currently held in transit or abroad, estimated arrival in the UK 30/04/2011 (Find out more about En Primeur)

Until recently it has been extremely rare for this wine to be seen outside of the French restaurant scene. It is great news that it is now available more widely. This is outstanding value when one considers that it is essentially the second wine of Haut-Brion Blanc and Laville Haut-Brion combined, produced principally from younger vines but always to the same exacting standards as the rest of the wines from Domaine Clarence Dillon.

2008 Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan

Wine currently held in transit or abroad, estimated arrival in the UK 30/04/2011 (Find out more about En Primeur)

Dark and brooding. Ripe damson and black cherry fruit, powerful and intense. Rich sweetness on the attack. Concentrated and, while supple textured through to the mid-palate, incredibly mineral, with graphite purity and intensity through to the finish. Tannins are strongly fruit-derived, yet powerfully mineral and the wine is carried to a very long finish by a fine acidity. Fruit purity, minerality and controlled power. Robert Parker: 94-96+

2005 Château Laville Haut-Brion Blanc, Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan

2005 Château Laville Haut-Brion Blanc, Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan

A small production of just 600 cases, that comprises 78% Sauvignon
Blanc and 22% Semillon. Deep straw in appearance, with notes of
honeyed peach and citrus on the nose,. The palate is fine and zesty in
nature, with a truly scintillating acidity, linear in style, with a markedly
mineral character akin to wet-stone. The overall impression is one of
poised mineral infused fruit. Very fine and very, very long. Stunning.

2002 Château Haut-Brion, 1er Cru Pessac-Léognan

2002 Château Haut-Brion, 1er Cru Pessac-Léognan

In 2002 Haut-Brion have produced a wine brimming with elegance and breeding. The nose is restrained with sweet plum and stone fruits and an enticing creaminess, while the palate is impressive with a deep core of cassis and damson fruit underpinned by mineral nuances. Tannins are firm but ripe and beautifully fine-grained, but it is the finish that marks this wine out in its great focus, drive and length. This is certainly one of the highlights of the vintage.

2007 Château Haut-Brion, 1er Cru Pessac-Léognan

2007 Château Haut-Brion, 1er Cru Pessac-Léognan

Equally as dark in hue as the La Mission, the aromas here are restrained, hinting at fresh dark fruits. Fleshy and gently mouth-filling fruit leads to a lush, vibrant impression with lively acidity and a creamy texture to the finish. Not an imposing Haut-Brion, but there is a modicum more substance here than with many. There is gravelly minerality here alongside well-struck poise and the purity that one has come to expect of this great estate.
