2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château de Beaucastel

Magnum2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château de Beaucastel

Very bright and open, this lovely wine is redolent of blue fruits scented with pretty violets, spice and rose petals. The palate shows excellent concentration and depth with an attractive fleshy character and a long finish. The firm tannins and powerful blueberry, cherry and blackberry fruit marry well with the pure vein of acidity that runs throughout. This is a very impressive wine from one of the most skilful winemakers in the Rhône.
Wine currently held in transit or abroad, estimated arrival in the UK October 2013. (Find out more about En Primeur)

2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Cuvée Réservée, Domaine du Pégau

Magnum2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Cuvée Réservée, Domaine du Pégau

This is a very dark, serious and brooding wine from the enigmatic Laurence Féraud. Savoury, meaty aromas combine with spice, pepper and garrigue, dried leaves and clove. It has soft, supple autumnal flavours on the palate, with excellent mid-palate concentration, sound tannic structure, and outstanding length. It should be approachable on release, yet given the track record here, it will undoubtedly also age gracefully.
(Given 90-93 points in the Wine Advocate, Robert Parker)
