Now owned by champagne house Louis Roederer, Ramos-Pinto’s wines have dramatically improved in quality. The 1994 is well structured with ripe tannins and generous sweet fruit. Very good value.
Still showing a youthful purple rim with a deep core. The aromas here are reserved, a fragrant, seductive nose of deep red summer fruits. The palate shows an overriding sense of harmony – a beautifully balanced sweetness. Smoky, meaty nuances add interest and complexity as do peppery tannin-derived notes on the finish. A classic Dow's.
Wonderfully dense, concentrated colour with an opaque core. Rich, ripe luscious fruit scent with floral notes. Finishes with a dash of spice.
"Ripe toasty black fruit infused with liquorices and creme de menthe. The palate is full-bodied with exceptionally smooth tannins, very refined and harmonious. A sensuous Grahams with black cherry, black olive, fruitcake, California raisin and damson towards the finish. Primal of course, but great potential." - Neal Martin, June 2009.
"The millennial Croft was blended by the Taylor’s team who had just acquired the house. It has a warm, inviting bouquet with maraschino cherry, California raisin, burning embers in a winter fire and Tiptree strawberry jam. The palate has a mellow entry, a little more forward and generous than I anticipated a touch of Indian spice on the entry that fans out nicely across the mouth, supple and slightly honeyed towards the long finish. Lovely." - Neal Martin, July 2011.
Structured and generous in fruit.
Now at its peak. Deliciously supple yet with depth and length.
At over 15 years old, the '85 vintage is maturing superbly. These wines with their sweet, fresh walnut character are ideal for drinking this Christmas.
The sweet style of Graham’s in evidence. Luscious and fruity.
