Brücke is a low-lying vineyard, running alongside the river itself, renowned for producing wines of a distinctive minerality, quite full in their own way. Very open scents of sweet lime and green apple. The palate shows terrific power and definition, the intensity and poise are quite spectacular with wave upon wave of exotic nuanced fruit. This finishes with a flourish, revealing a deep mineral vein. Undeniably fine.
This is glorious spätlese and we purchased every case available! Extraordinarily complex, with richness in evidence, but the vibrancy of ripe acidity provides wonderful refreshment and scintillating race. A massive success in 2006.
Honeyed, gently tangy, rich apple aromas. Showing good depth of fruit with terrific intensity, this wine has an impeccable sense of balance - ripe, honeyed fruit allied to vibrancy and cut. Very expressive but with the structure to age, this is very fine indeed.
The nose of Haag's spätlese has a mineral element with plenty of ripe, fresh apple and peach but a note of slate too. The palate shows a beautiful poise between sweetness and acidity, signalling a very fine wine, more faithful to type than many in this vintage. Layered with wonderfully pure and defined fruit.
Unsurprisingly, this is noticeably richer than the Juffer Sonnenuhr Spätlese and with peach, nectarine and a hint of honey on the nose. Really exotic on the palate but with the required cut of acidity to invigorate the senses. The sense of balance between sweetness and vibrancy is remarkable. Splendid Auslese that is particularly recommended for those who look for elegance and sophistication in their Rieslings. Displays a wonderful lightness of touch.
Very pale as is the norm for Haag's Braunebergs. The nose is a little muted at the moment but the crystal-clear flavours really sing! Beautifully fresh and delicate on the palate with ripe green apple and mineral notes adding dimension to faintly exotic fruit. This is refined and elegant. Produced from a combination of early and later picked fruit from several parcels of the Juffer. Bottled under screw cap. 8.5% by volume.
A fascinating contrast to the Abtsberg Ausleses in this offer - the first impression on the nose of this Herrenberg is one of spices. A compelling perfume that is as intriguingly individual as it is intoxicating. Rich and lusciously fruity with hints of botrytis giving the wine a honeyed note and faintly oriental scent and flavour. Splendid quality.
Let no one be in any doubt, Hanno Zilliken produced a stellar range of wines in 2005. Such was the quality of perfectly ripened fruit on the Rausch that he made virtually no wines of less than Auslese level. Fuder 11-06 is what amounts to the 'entry level' Auslese but such is the harmony and complexity of this wine, who would think it anything other than the finest wine in the cellar? A beautifully harmonious Riesling with expansive scents of philadelphus and exotic fruits. The palate is brimming with fruit, steeliness and delicacy. Deft of touch and incredibly long.
Delightfully floral, this has a faintly exotic perfume. Racy and deliciously crisp Riesling with broad, seductive scents hinting at pear, mango and apricot with a touch of citrus. Tropical fruit is in evidence on the palate, together with hints of greengage and Granny Smith apple. A Riesling with super-charged freshness and clean-cut purity.
