Displays a scent of cooked cherries and plums; juicy and harmonious, complete and succulent. Less Cabernet Franc in the assemblage this year results in a seductively supple margaux. Unforced and elegant. Will probably be good value.
Tasted several times and impressive at each showing – best of all when tasted with proprietor Claire Villars-Lurton. Beautifully fresh floral fruit on the nose and the palate where grip and tannins provide the ideal structure. A real winner.
Smoky, spicy nose. Punchy, fresh and vibrant. Classic Graves style with attractive vivacious fruit on the palate. Late picking (finishing 15th October) of Cabernet has proved its worth in this two-thirds Cabernet/one-third Merlot blend. Haut-Bailly is achieving really good things at present.
This is the third vintage of Christian Moueix' new Estate and it is obvious that the attention to detail expected by Christian of his team has had the desired affect. Hosanna 2001 is a beautifully crafted pomerol with exquisite clarity of flavour and appeal.
Lovely freshness here. Luscious, open, spicy and complex. A pomerol with finesse and pristine elegance.
Haut-Brion made a splendid 2001 employing more Merlot than usual. As a consequence Bahans, which accounted for 30% of the crop, is Cabernet-dominant, and will therefore age well. It is a wine of cassis fruit and spice with a deep, earthy core.
