A beautiful example of chambolle in 2001. This is an exceptional wine with its strong black fruit flavours, breadth and succulence. Balanced to perfection by rounded tannins, it is silky and long.
The premier cru vineyards of Beaux Monts are dissected by the parish boundaries of Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot, hence the varying styles produced. Etienne Grivot’s has elegance and breadth. Always well structured this is a very gracious wine destined for long ageing.
Grivot's vosne displays a good deep core of inky fruit, an indicator of the structured wine to come, and the nose exudes purity and elegance with classic notes of dark morello cherry and black plum. The palate is delicious with wonderful sophistication and class displayed by the fruit, while tannins and acidity keeps the finish fresh.
45-year vines deliver low yields and complexity. The 2001 is a wine full of damsons, nutmeg and spice which balances richness with an extraordinary elegance. The finish exudes class – a superlative wine.
Situated by the famous Château de la Tour, this has a feminine style for a vougeot. With lovely raspberry aromas, this is a beautiful harmonious wine which exudes breeding and class. Pascal Marchand claims this as his favourite vineyard on the estate and it is easy to see why.
Situated right in the middle of the Nuits-St-Georges premier cru appellations, this is a true classic. Hints of spiced blackberries and a full rich confit palate; it has almost silky weight to it. Very fine and long.
Rich blackforest fruit aromas. This has a superb density of fruit in the palate which is rich and concentrated, balancing intense texture with a lovely sweet finish.
Possessing a quite extraordinarily brilliant nose that still displays a considerable amount of primary fruit – raspberry and wild strawberries – but has the slightly gamey, near-impossible-to-describe complexity only found in Burgundy. The palate is incredibly elegant, with spectacularly pure fruit, sleek tannins, a gorgeous mouth feel and perfect balance. It manages to show great concentration, but with no excess weight; so hard to achieve, but magnificent when found in a wine. This is wonderful wine that is simply incredible value for money.
Bright purple colour with softly spiced red cherry aromas. These are echoed on the palate with wild strawberry flavours, and there is a superb balance between rich texture and rounded tannins. A delicious example of this fine premier cru.
Brick red colour and displaying soft redcurrant aromas. This is beautifully balanced with a soft ripe structure, appealing weight with rounded tannins, and lovely length on the finish.
