2005 Château Les Ormes de Pez, Cru Bourgeois St-Estèphe

2005 Château Les Ormes de Pez, Cru Bourgeois St-Estèphe

2005 Les Ormes de Pez comprises 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. There is a creamy touch to the fruit revealed on the nose, while the palate delivers a lovely intensity, mid weight with pleasing texture. This is not light on substance but retains a fine sense of poise and refinement. The tannins are well expressed, gently gripping and adding focus to this appealing wine.

2005 Les Pagodes de Cos, St-Estèphe

2005 Les Pagodes de Cos, St-Estèphe

Château Cos d'Estournel is one of the highest rated 2005s. This morning the property released its second wine, Les Pagodes de Cos and we estimate that it will be approximately one-fifth of the the price of the grand vin. Pagodes is densely coloured and displays a profound, black fruit laden perfume. The palate is intense and packs a considerable punch. A 50/50 Cabernet/Merlot assemblage, this is a big, powerful, tannic but rich Saint-Estephe that really delivers. A massive 50% less production than in 2004.
