2008 Sauvignon Blanc, Terrunyo, Casablanca
Near the coast in the north of Chile, the Casablanca wine region is one of Chile's coolest and ideally suited for producing fragrant white wines. Owned by Concha y Toro, Terrunyo has gone from strength to strength due to the work of their acclaimed winemaker, Ignacio Recabarren, whose previous experience was at Cloudy Bay.
This is a delightful wine for summer drinking. Less pungently intense than some New Zealand examples, this Chilean white is vibrant and zesty, with notes of lime and gooseberry. The flinty minerality gives this wine a wonderful balance and sense of purity, making it a great match with summer salads and white meats.
