2006 Chianti Classico Riserva, Il Campitello, Monteraponi, Tuscany
Located in the Arbia river valley, 30 kilometres from Sienna is the medieval village of Monteraponi. This estate produces fantastic wines from beautifully located vineyards, using traditional vinification. Il Campitello is only produced from their 35 year old vines in the best vintages. Matured exclusively in large ‘botti’, this is a real vineyard wine with earthy, violet and mulberry notes. The palate is very well-defined with great energy and a long detailed finish, including notes of dried fruit and thyme.
