2008 Cornas, Les Vieilles Vignes, Alain Voge

Voge only made their Vieilles Vignes Cuvée in 2008. The wine is quite deep in colour, with a ripe, spicy nose of dark fruits, cassis and blackberry. Mid-weight, this has some structure and a touch of underlying acidity. There is good fruit here, supple and defined, but the finish is soft and round. The tannins are woven into the wine and there is spice and dark fruit to the fore. Not for the long term, but very well crafted, without any of the more rustic side the appellation often exhibits. Cornas always performs well in cooler vintages.
