2008 Vacqueyras, Cuvée des Templiers, Domaine le Clos des Cazaux

As ever, Syrah seems to play a more serious role here and the wine takes time to get into its stride. Fragrant and pure, with a blueberry-compote note on the nose. The palate exudes ample, soft-skinned berry fruit and is quite lifted in style, with herby, garrigue notes. Tapering in on the finish, this elegant style needs more patience than the Saint-Roch, with assertive mineral notes on the finish.
