2001 Gigondas, Raspail-Ay
Wonderful aromas of liquorice, blueberry, blackberry and fragrant summer red fruit notes emerge from the glass. The palate shows a fine sense of balance - classically gigondas with abundant velvety dark fruit. Nothing harsh or aggressive here, just broad and intense flavours. The finish simply flows with vibrant acidity carrying the fruit. As much evidence as anyone might require of the winemaking skill of Dominique Ay.
