2010 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumeaux, Domaine Comtesse Bernard de Cherisey

The 60-year-old vines offer great concentration and complexity in this wine. It has a very perfumed nose of white flowers, citrus and a chalky minerality. Although stylistically lean, the palate has a lovely interplay between citrus and a richer creaminess, where fresh acidity provides a firm structure that leads to a long finish. The 30% new oak is soft and elegant but very fine indeed.
