2010 Le Sec de Rayne Vigneau, Bordeaux Blanc Sec

2010 Le Sec de Rayne Vigneau, Bordeaux Blanc Sec

This 1er Grand Cru Classé Sauternes Château has an enviable vineyard location, adjacent to Chateau d'Yquem and the Ciron tributary, consistently producing some of the best sweet wines in the world. The 80 hectare estate lies on a ridge built up of sandy gravel over clay, curiously mixed up with a cornucopia of precious and semi-precious stones, including onyx, sapphire, amethyst and opal. The dry white wine from this estate is called “Le Sec de Rayne-Vigneau” and it is produced from their young Sauvignon Blanc vines. Prior to the onset of ‘noble rot’, these grapes are hand picked and the juice is tank-fermented with the lees stirred.

A lovely, delicate and floral Sauvignon Blanc from this top estate. The nose displays lively, fresh lemons, lime and grapefruit, which leads to a palate that is equally enticing. Flavours of peach are mouth-filling and balanced by a very fine nervy edge that finishes long and clean with a vibrant citrus peel character.
