2012 Les Pagodes de Cos, St-Estèphe

The second wine of Cos d'Estournel is far more approachable than its bigger sibling, with greater proportion of Merlot in the blend (40%). Bright and attractive on the nose, with notes of red fruit and a touch of spice. Mouthwateringly fresh on the palate, with ripe hedgerow fruit and an almost-floral sweetness on the finish. Tannins are ripe and well integrated, giving Pagodes a sense of hidden depths, but the overall impression is one of freshness and pure fruit.
