2011 Château Clerc Milon, Cru Classé Pauillac

2011 Château Clerc Milon, Cru Classé Pauillac

With vines bordering the prestigious first growth Mouton-Rothschild and under the same ownership since the 1970s, the wines produced at this estate considerably outshine its humble fifth growth status. A strikingly vibrant purple hue in the glass, the nose displays a pure vein of red plums and damsons with the merest note of tobacco. Initially brooding and densely structured with grippy tannins, the palate opens up to display succulent darks fruits, Christmas cake spice and dark chocolate. These flavours linger on the finish together with an impression of freshness and a suggestion of stony, mineral notes.
