2011 Château Montrose, Cru Classé St-Estèphe

Opaque, dark and brooding with potential. The nose is loaded with cassis, Christmas cake spice and a slate-like quality. This is a huge wine, with immense volume and a beautiful texture. On entry you are greeted with tremendously concentrated, sweet fruit and spice, then hit by a wave of fine-grained tannins that totally coat the mouth. Long and very serious.
