2007 Barbaresco Rabajà, Castello di Verduno, Piedmont

2007 Barbaresco Rabajà, Castello di Verduno, Piedmont

From one of the best vineyards in Barbaresco, this south-west facing site amounts to just over a hectare on Marne di Sant’Agata soil, a calcareous clay with a high sand and fossil content. The 35-year old vines have given the wine a fragrant nose of black autumnal fruits and a touch of spice. The backbone of acidity and the fine grippy tannins both show this to be a serious and elegant Barbaresco which should age well.
