Château Labégorce-Zédé

There are two Labégorce estates in the commune of Margaux both based to the north of the commune. Originally under the sole ownership of an abbot by the name of Gorce, the estate was separated in 1795 and the smaller vineyard acquired by Pierre Zédé in 1840. From 1979 until 2003 it was owned by the Thienpont family who also own Vieux Château Certan in Pomerol. Luc Thienpont as manager turned the property into one of the best cru bourgeois estates with terrific class and breeding. A sale in 2003 to entrepreneur Hubert Perrodo saw the two Labégorce estates finally reunited under the same ownership.
