Darkly fragrant on the nose, this offers notes of morello cherry, damson, mocha and woodsmoke. The palate is almost-heady, with rich, ripe opulent fruit characters and mouthcoating tannins, wrapped in layers of minerals, spice and sweet new oak. Yet, despite this luxuriant nature, this still shows tremendous balance, with a vein of acidity cutting through and lending freshness to the finish.

Closed on the nose, but notes of dark fruit come through with time in the glass. The palate is incredibly pure and ripe, with very fine tannins and enlivening freshness. Almost bordelais in structure, but with very Italian acidity and almost a sense of Rhône-esque garrigue on the finish! Complex and extraordinary, showing great depth and power, but also fantastic poise.
