2010 Sancerre, Cuvée Florès, Vincent Pinard

Bright pale straw with a watery hue. Notes of fresh citrus fruit give way to delicious, herbaceous aromatics and minerals. A lovely intensity on the palate, displaying crisp lemon and flint on the finish. Delightful!

2010 Grüner Veltliner Alte Reben, Weingut Bründlmayer

2010 Grüner Veltliner Alte Reben, Weingut Bründlmayer

2010 is a great vintage in Austria for Grüner Veltliner and Willi Bründlmayer is one of the masters of this unique grape variety. This cuvée is formed from a selection of old vines, producing a concentrated and juicy wine, which is surprisingly light on its feet. With textbook aromatics of white peach, blossom and white pepper, the palate is rich, with a savoury backbone reminiscent of wet stones and green lentils, bound together with a lace-like acidity.

Fruity Whites

2007 Château de Chantegrive Blanc, Graves

2007 Château de Chantegrive Blanc, Graves

The Chantegrive Blanc 2007 is a very pretty Sauvignon Blanc- dominated
blend (a little Sémillon brings a touch of weight to the texture). This
piquant, floral and citrussy white will provide a perfectly refreshing
summer drink, or an excellent accompaniment to grilled, meaty fish such
as Sea Bass or Monkfish

2009 Chablis, Pierre Quénard

2009 Chablis, Pierre Quénard

WAS £14.11   Fine and light on the nose, with notes of white flowers and citrus. On the palate, there are crunchy apple and pear characters, zesty acidity and a steely minerality, which adds both structure and elegance. With a long finish and a surprisingly mouthfilling texture, this would match well with shellfish or white meat dishes.

Royally-Good Fizz

Carte d'Or Brut, Champagne Drappier

Carte d'Or Brut, Champagne Drappier

Primarily made from Pinot Noir, this is close to being a Blanc de Noirs in style. Attractive on the nose, with delicate notes of red berry fruit, a touch of florality and some savoury bread-like characters. On the palate, this is balanced and elegant, with pear and red berries and a dart of citrus acidity. Perfect as an apéritif.

2010 Sancerre Rosé, Domaine François Cotat

Ravishing Red

2009 Bandol Cuvée Classique, Domaine Tempier

2009 Bandol Cuvée Classique, Domaine Tempier

WAS £21.50   Attractively perfumed on the nose, with notes of cherry, chocolate and mocha. The palate is more refined and restrained. The Mourvèdre-led structure is undoubtedly robust, but the tannins are finely-tuned and very ripe, giving the wine a silky texture. Juicy, ripe hedgerow fruits are to the fore in the mid-palate, alongside more complex notes of coffee and spice. Very long on the finish, this is a wine that certainly promises a great deal.

2009 Fleurie, Domaine de la Chapelle des Bois

2009 Fleurie, Domaine de la Chapelle des Bois

Charming on the nose, with bright cherry aromas and a hint of spice. On the palate, this has concentrated red berry fruit and a touch of savoury earthiness that gives it a real sense of depth and distinction. This is beautifully balanced, classic Fleurie and will be delicious with summer salads, grilled poultry and barbecued fish.

2004 Campillo Reserva, Rioja

2004 Campillo Reserva, Rioja

2004 was an outstanding vintage in Rioja, and the most appealing aspect of 2004 Reservas are the fact that they are released ready to drink, but can age very gracefully indeed. Bodegas Campillo age their Reservas for no less than 20 months in American oak, which gives the wines very rich and seductive flavours of vanilla and coconut to complement the dried plums Tempranillo fruit.
