"Clos des Goisses is anti-varietal. It is close to impossible to delineate its components of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as signatures. What makes this wine tick is its sturdiness, masculinity, and profoundly chalky minerality. It both defines the genre of great Champagne and stands somewhat apart from it; not as fruity as Cristal, not as briny and nutty as Krug.
Glos des Goisses is perhaps the pre-eminently important Champagne, the one you really must seek out because you will not entirely understand it. This is a searching wine, capable of arousing not only your admiration but also your curiosity."
