Spain

Until relatively recently, Spanish wine production remained staunchly traditional, and only Rioja saw any real interest from outside Spain itself. As with many wine regions, modernisation of wine-making practice and substantial recent investment have seen both an improvement to and, in some cases, a corresponding move away from traditional winemaking. While Rioja remains at the forefront of Spanish wine production, it has now been joined by fine red wines from Priorat, Navarra and Ribero del Duero, as well as crisp whites from Galicia.
