The Junior Bin Club

Junior membership of The Bin Club provides the means by which an adult can endow a child or children, even of tender years, with a collection of top quality wines, laid down in The Bin Club cellars, a few bottles at a time but on a regular basis. Such an arrangement goes a long way to solving the eternal problem that many grandparents, parents, godparents, uncles and aunts have when they are trying to decide what to give as a Christening, Christmas or birthday present to the youngster concerned.

How it works

Each year there will be two occasions when wines are laid down in the junior member's name. The first a week or two before his/her birthday with the intention that the details, on a cellar book card, will be sent to arrive as near as possible to the actual date. The second, similarly, so that it can be recognised as a Christmas gift, will be sent with details in December. Alternatively, wines can be laid down for just one of these occasions, as required.

All wines will be stored Duty paid (including VAT) in the same cellars as all other members' Bin Club wines and will be subject to the same stringent stock control systems.

A junior member, of whatever age, will always be welcome to visit The Bin Club cellars and inspect his/her wines.

After the initial two-year grace period, cellarage is debited to the donor's account.

What wines are selected?

Bearing in mind the age of the member, we will select wines which will be long lived and likely to reach their best when the member is in his/her mid to late twenties. With this in mind, Bin Club junior membership wines will usually be either Vintage Ports when they are "declared", fine Claret, top quality Sauternes, or red Burgundy; all of which require quite a few years of careful storage under proper cellar conditions.
